Target: tacky capital of the world!
Jan. 31st, 2006 04:32 pmI love Target. It may be one of the few generic type of stores that can consistently make me giggle out loud. At the front door they have an area they call the "One Spot." It's full of stuff for sale for $1. Today as I went by I noticed they had napkin rings with a plastic Statue of Liberty on them. (Your choice of white or black plastic.) That was enough to make me laugh but then I notice the bunch of "matching" accessories. Little party sticks for 'hors d'oeuvres' that had the S.o.L. on it as well as the Eiffel Tower. Really! There was also a S.o.L. & E.T. salt & pepper shaker.
As I went through the store I cut down the candle aisle where, I swear, they had a tea light chicken. Honest! It was a ceramic chicken with holes in it the size of your finger, not just a couple but several. Where the chicken's tale should be was a large opening where you would put the candle in. Looking at that chicken made me laugh--lucky for me I was alone in the aisle.
When I headed out of Target I got in the car where I performed car karaoke to a Prince song, complete with dance moves. (Don't worry, I always keep one hand on the wheel when I car dance.)
Yeah, I do feel silly this afternoon. Why do ya ask?

Date: 2006-02-01 04:56 am (UTC)I was at Tarzhay de Paris as well this afternoon. And I can't believe I didn't know about the One Spot! I feel not "in the know" . . .
Way to car dance, baybee!
