Driving through my tears

Thanks a lot NPR. Every Friday 'Morning Edition' has a segment from StoryCorps. This morning they checked in with Danny and Annie Perasa. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to drive in morning traffic with tears running down your face? OMG, wasn't that incredible. Fortunately I wasn't on the road yet when I heard it--I had to sit down and catch my breath.

StoryCorps often makes me teary-eyed but that one had tears streaming down my face. If you haven't yet you should check out the pictures of Danny and Annie on the NPR site....they are delightful.

Danny Perasa: Oct. 9, 1938-Feb. 24, 2006
Dear Readers,

Danny Perasa passed away at 2:30 p.m. ET as he slept. Annie says he was not in pain.

Although he did not get to hear today's Morning Edition broadcast, Danny was aware that the story aired. I was reading Annie some of the hundreds and hundreds of emails we received from many of you at the moment that Danny passed.

Over the past two years, Danny and Annie have come to think of all of public radio as a part of their family. Thank you all for helping to honor the life of this extraordinary man. He will be sorely missed.

If you would like to send a note of condolence to Annie, please send her an email.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Details will be posted at npr.org and at storycorps.net.
