Of course, never mind that someone else had already 'discovered' the Americas. Perhaps I shouldn't even get started on that as it would lead to the 'Indian with a dot, not feathers' rant.

This weekend flew by with two birthday celebrations and two movies. Saturday the mister and I went down to Branson (the home of tacky) to have dinner with friends at The Candlestick Inn which was nice as we arrived early enough to see the sun set. We had a very lovely dinner. As Greg said, there really isn't anything like good food and good companionship. The night was full of laughter. The mister and I were disappointed we couldn't join the group at a friend's lake house but we had a long drive ahead of us and six dogs who would have been very distraught if we hadn't come home. The mister and I were both ticked we didn't get cheesecake.

Sunday we headed down to Spokane for my grandpa's 79th birthday lunch. There was quite a crowd of us especially when you consider that the majority of the crowd was grandkids and great-grandkids. We had a good time eating too much, looking at my cousin's senior pictures and chuckling over my uncle's 'prank' gift. Then some of the cousins (and spouses) joined up to go see Wallace and Gromit and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I loved it...I'll most certainly have to get a copy when it comes out on dvd. To be honest I might have to see it in the theater again if it hits our local "cheap" movie theater. I can't wait to watch it again so I can catch all those little details that they throw in that I don't always notice the first time through.

I was also able to get a bit of a baseball fix while watching the Yankees last night. Now the mister likes the Cards and the Yankees so he's hoping for world series with those two. I'm not too sure the Yankees are going to pull it off myself. The team that wins tonight is going to be facing a well rested Sox team so it will be interesting. After 18 innings yesterday I'm sure the Astros are a bit tired too. I can only hope that works to the Cards advantage. I don't know what I'm going to do when baseball season is finally over. I went into severe withdrawal when the Springfield Cards season finished so when the bigs end I won't have anything to cushion the blow. When does spring training start?

Oh, I love Wallace and Grommit!! Can't wait to see the new movie but I saw on the news tonight that the warehouse where they stored all the sets and models from the previous movies burnt down over the weekend; all those little Wallace and Grommit models gone forever :-( It was lucky the ones from the new movie are in an exhibition or something similar and survived.
Sounds like you had a good weekend.

Yes it is quite a shame that they have lost all those models and sets. Nick Park was very impressive though, as he commented that compared to what else is going on in the world that this was 'no big deal.' I'm sure he is still sad to see all that work lost.
