While I'm not sure that they will actually be opening a Planned Parenthood clinic I plan to investigate to see how I can send support to the Pine Ridge Reservation.

I've been doing stuff through the Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation site for over a year now. One of the things I really like is that they have about a billiondy ways of helping that don't require cash (their link is on both my LJ page and my BC bookshelf page). Chris, the site manager, even joined BC at my suggestion, although I don't think she's had time to follow up much. If you have time, they also have a Yahoo group you can join so that you can get direct e-mails about urgent need requests and special projects (last fall, zz-neena and I combined the baseball pool thing with helping the senior class at one of the high schools raise money in a read-a-thon for their class trip). There are addresses for nearly anything - they'll take printer cartridges and soup labels, and i often send sample/hotel size toiletries to one of the women's shelters...

Needless to say, this is a cause I support completely, and Chris is super about finding ways to take nearly anything you want to give, even if they don't have a previously existing recipient... The Yahoo group even has a sewing brigade (knitting & crocheting welcome too) that I plan to sew for if I can convince my friends to stop having kids I need to make stuff for... ;-)
